The bus back to the train station from the Old Town of Segovia leaves roughly every hour. I had trouble making sense of it because the sign on the bus stop wasn’t very readable. Yes, it was in Spanish, but I think numbers are still written the same way. Anyway, there weren’t a lot of people who took the bus back to the train station. Not surprising since most of the tourists just arrived in town. I am glad I got here early in the morning. It was an advantage that the days are longer here since people are still at home at seven in the morning. This would be a factor when planning my future visits in this area.
The bus arrived at the Segovia railway station and there wasn’t much to do but wait. I noticed that there was a small cafe in the station so I decided to grab a quick bite here. They didn’t serve any “real” food here apart from sandwiches which they call bocadillos. I had one and didn’t really feel anything special about it. It eased my hunger as I waited for the train to arrive. Off the other side of the cafe was an elderly lady having a beer. I was a bit surprised to see this but then again, this is probably normal here. A few minutes before the train arrived we were let down to the platform to prepare for boarding. I got to take some photos of the station and the beautiful snow capped Sierra Guadarrama in the distance. The train tunnels a fair bit under the mountains so I couldn’t really see much of them.
