I didn’t realize that there was another way to the top of the aqueduct of Segovia. When I did a bit of research on the Old Town of Segovia, I remember seeing amazing views of the aqueduct, almost like the person taking the photo was right beside the aqueduct while being on some elevated area. I dismissed to be some kind of stage or platform set up just to take that photo. How wrong was I. I totally forgot about that photo until I was about to leave the Old Town of Segovia. There is a long flight of stairs going to the top of the Aqueduct of Segovia and it provides some of the best views of the aqueduct. It wasn’t really a very arduous climb. You can get several shot on either side of the aqueduct. Though I prefer the side where it is facing away from the town.
The sun was shining on the front of the aqueduct, which made the one from behind a bit dark. From the front you can see a lot of detail of the aqueduct. It is amazing to think that this is almost two thousand years old as it was built during the Roman times. This was built without the use of any cement or similar material. Even more amazing is that the structure needs to be perfectly built to be able to ferry water from far away. This meant that the aqueduct is at a very, very slight incline to allow gravity to do the work of bringing water. After a few shots from the top, I was finally ready to leave.
