I was trying to follow a schedule in my exploration of the Old Town of Segovia and it seems that I have managed to follow it. When I head back to the old town from the alcazar, I realized that there were a lot more people here than two hours ago. It seems that I have managed to beat the jam of tourists when I arrived quite early in the morning. It was a pleasant surprise to have the town seemingly all to myself. It turned out that people were just late in waking up. This is a lesson learned to be able to enjoy these heavily touristed places. This was also the very reason why I wanted to arrive here early. By the time the main tourist group is arriving, I would already be done.
As I was going through the town, I came across this nice little pastry shop. I seems their stuff is famous and I really wanted to try some local specialties. The pastry shop is named Limon y Menta which I would translate as Lemon and Mint. They had a wide selection of desserts to choose from an I only had one shot at it. I went for something called a ponche which seemed to be quite famous. It was a sweet with a sticky skin on it. It was a bit tricky to eat as I had a heavy camera with me. The ponche was delightfully sinful and it reminded me of some pastries I have tried in the Philippines. I don’t know if these are related though.

I loved this place – that cake was amazing!
