Upon entry into the Alcazar de Segovia, there was an exhibit of the most recent occupants of the castle. Now that I look at it, I should not be really surprised to see exhibits of knights here. I was under the impression that knights were a thing only in England. There were a number of statues of soldiers in armor. It looks very impressive but as the armor look very solid. It is sure to have protected the wearer to a large degree. Armor is a delicate balancing act, make it too thick, and it will be too heavy to carry, make it too thin and light and the wearer is not well protected.
Even the head is not to be left unprotected. The helmet has grills so that the wearer can still see outside. Angle of view is not really of primary importance here since it is quite narrow. There was also an exhibit where the knight is mounted on a horse which is also similarly armored. I would have been interesting to see tho times where battles are still fought hand to hand. These days everything is remote controlled where drones can just attack a target from the comfort of their living room.
