The Alcazar de Segovia is one of the highlights of a visit to this delightful old town. The town is very compact and can be visited quickly in about half a day. More serious old town afficionados can spend a few days here. I won’t be spending a lot of time here so I was heading on to the important places. The Alcazar de Segovia is at the other end of town and it is a pleasant walk from the aqueduct. The alcazar is basically the town castle and it is also a fort when it is times of war. It is somewhat the “center” of the town as well since the head of the town lives here, so much that the former cathedral of the town of Segovia was located here.
There was a gate visitors need to enter to go to the alcazar. Here, there is a garden fronting the alcazar, with a few monuments to personalities which I am not familiar with. It is a nice place for a morning stroll but I think it is bit small. Looming behind the park is the alcazar itself. To the left is the admin office where you purchase tickets. English isn’t really spoken much here but I think it should be easy enough to figure out since you just need to tell them how many tickets you need. I spent some time to take photos of the alcazar before entering.
