One of the first landmarks I saw when I entered the old town of Segovia as the Iglesia de San Millán or the Church of Saint Millán. This church is one of the oldest churches built here in Segovia having been built in the 1100s. The style of the building is distinctively Mudéjar which is a characteristic of a lot of historic buildings here in Spain. From the looks of the church from the outside, it look very old as it doesn’t seem to have much restoration done on it.
I wanted to go in the church but there didn’t seem to be any way to go in. The main entrance of the church was gated shut and it doesn’t seem to be in use at all. Maybe it really is closed for renovations or something. It is supposedly inspired by the Cathedral of Jaca in Aragon, but on a smaller scale. I don’t think I will be able to go to Aragon anytime soon so I can just try to imagine how the church looks like from the inside. I will try to pass by the church again later in the day hopefully, it would be open. I hope it is only closed because it is Holy Week.
