After my quick dinner of delicious chorizos, I made my way down the Historic City of Toledo. I have more or less figured out how to get down, and it was very fast. I ended up following the path which I use coming up earlier in the day but I was down the hill in fifteen minutes. Getting back to the train station was straightforward. Of course, I could have just taken a bus back to the train station but that would have involved some confusion on how the bus system works in Spain. Either way, I was back at the train station in thirty minutes with a lot of time to spare. People were already waiting in the station to get back to Madrid. The train arrived on time and we were back in no time.
I haven’t really talked about where I was staying in Madrid because I didn’t really have much time to photograph the place. When I got back, there weren’t any people in the room which allowed me to take some photographs of the room. The Way Hostel is a nice little hostel in the center of Madrid. The closest metro station is the Tirso de Molina and it is just a block away from there. The staff was very friendly and they would try to answer any question you ask. English is passable, so I didn’t need to resort to any Spanish. They also have activities for guests, such as tours to nearby places. That night there was even home made paella, you can get a plateful for only two euros and it was much better than the one I had the previous night. It would appear that the hostel is targeting a younger crowd as it was very noisy in the hostel, at least the common areas were noisy, however you will hardly hear any of these noise in the dorm rooms.
That day was a special day, as there was a major football game going on, it was Barcelona vs Real Madrid and people were gathered in the common area to watch the match. You can hear who is rooting for whom and everyone is very excited to watch. A lot of the viewers were foreigners, but it didn’t seem to matter, such is the popularity of football these days. Anyway, my dorm was a mixed dorm but there were only men in the dorm room at that time. There was an en-suite bathroom and it was nice and clean. There was a hot shower as well. There was still heating in the hostel but it didn’t think they needed it anymore. The windows were open in the dorm to let some of the cool air in. At night you can easily hear people talk on the streets which was quite annoying. It made it even more difficult to sleep when my dorm mate started snoring. Well, either he snores first or I do.
