You can’t go around Spain and not encounter a Church. The zeal of Spanish missionaries in spreading Christianity back then is well documented and it is nice to see where it all comes from. The Historic City of Toledo is home to one of three most important Gothic Churches in Spain. The Toledo Cathedral or officially, the Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo, is one of the main draws of the historic city of Toledo. I was lucky to have stumbled into the church. There was a small alley which had a very beautiful entrance to the church. I didn’t really look much like a church from the outside but as it turned out, it was one of the side entrances. You can get in that entrance to have a look but inside it is fenced out from the rent of the church.
To visit the church properly, you need to buy a ticket. I am quite turned off by the fact that you need to purchase a ticket when you visit the church. I always thought of churches to be free to go in by anyone. But since this is a major tourist attraction and not all the visitors will be Christian, they decided to charge an entrance fee. I suppose that it would be okay to go to the church when there is a service going on without any entrance fee, but of course, it is not right to be taking photos when there is a service going on. The ticket makes sense because of practical reasons as well since they need the money to keep the church going.
