It has been a while since I last took a high speed train. All of my high speed train rides have been done in China, and I thought it was a very pleasant experience. It was much more comfortable compared to the ordinary trains. I will be traveling from Madrid to the nearby town of Toledo where I will be doing my exploration. I was hoping to be able to leave Madrid earlier but there were no available trains when I arrived. I realized that travelers can’t expect to just show up here and purchase a ticket for the next train. I was doing that in China, and it was working for me and I never needed to wait for very long. Fortunately, there were a lot of trips from Madrid to Toledo so I won’t have to worry of not getting a ride. I got one close to noon time but the trip will be very short so I won’t need to worry about going hungry.
The ride from Madrid to Toledo wasn’t particularly scenic. The city itself wasn’t that pretty what with the graffiti drawn in every conceivable place. It is surprising that the authorities don’t get rid of them right away. I think it is quite unsightly but the Europeans might have other things in mind. Perhaps it helps to brighten up boring areas like railroads or highways. I guess I would still have an eye for tasteful graffiti but I still have yet to see it. It speaks of anarchy more than anything else but maybe it is just me. Fortunately, the high speed train I was riding didn’t have any graffiti. Anyway, I was careful not to fall asleep here since I might overshoot my destination. In half an hour, we started slowing down as we have arrived in Toledo. I don’t know much about this place but I hope it was worth the trip.
