Archeological Dig Exhibit at the Newgrange Visitor Center

After an amazing visit to the Newgrange Stone Age Passage Tomb, we slowly head back to our bus. I was very impressed with the monument. I know that much of the original layout was already altered but it is still quite amazing how this whole structure was built in the first place. It may have religious, cultural uses but no one is really sure. Perhaps it would be worth to take a look at what the latest research has to say. Our bus head back to the Newgrange Visitor Center to assemble. We were told that we won’t be leaving just yet. Our original tour guide advised us not to forget to visit the exhibit area.

Neolithic Living at Newgrange

Neolithic Living at Newgrange

I was by the canteen of the Newgrange Visitor Center and there was a wall with the story of Newgrange on it. I then realized that this probably wasn’t the exhibit area since there were people coming from upstairs. So I decided to go have a look at what they have upstairs. Turns out that there was a very well made exhibition area which tells the story of Newgrange in greater detail. This also includes some exhibits which show how the people of the Neolithic would have lived. There were a few replica huts and some boats which they use to navigate the River Boyne. There was a painting showing how this might have looked like back then. It was impressive that people who lived in these kinds of huts have built such and impressive structure, it does make you wonder.
