Apparently, the Newgrange Visitor Center was a good distance from the actual site. I suppose that there was no space at the site to accommodate a full blown visitor center such as the one they have now. I don’t think it would have been wise to built a new one so close to the UNESCO World Heritage site, so I guess, this was good. The buses moved slowly through the countryside. It seems that the road ahead, though it would short, it was slippery. It was so bad, that our driver had to let a more experienced driver go ahead before us. That wasn’t exactly very comforting. Anyway, we were able to get there in one piece.
Not to my surprise, the site actually had some parking space outside. There were actually private cars out there but I don’t know if they were for the staff or by visitors. I wonder if it is was possible to just drive down here and visit Newgrange. Then again, it isn’t really that expensive to visit. It does come with a guide tour and you can to visit one of the most important sites in prehistoric Europe. I can see Newgrange from the entrance and I am already getting excited just looking at it.
