I ended up not really following the tour guide since I was focusing more on taking photos in Dublin Castle. I was trying to lag behind the group to try to take photos after they leave the room. It was a test in patience as well since there were some people who lingered in the room as well. It might have been better if I just went ahead of the group and too pictures before them. Anyway, we arrived at what seemed to be an important room. How can I say that it was important? There was a throne looking chair in the room and I have no delusions as to what the purpose of that chair was.
The chair was really a throne and this was used when royalty visited Dublin Castle. The throne looked quite large for a normal person, but perhaps that is was the intention to give importance to the position it represents. The throne was used a few times when the Queen of England would come to visit Ireland. Since then, the chair has never been sat on. I could imagine that back then it was an arduous trip in the time before automobiles. Although England and Ireland were quite near each other the roads back then weren’t as good as they are now.
