Before I came to Dublin, my friend was telling how interesting Grafton Street is, sure it was expensive but some things you can get for free. This is true when it comes to street performances or buskers who show up on the weekends. I was there in Grafton Street the previous day but I did not see any performances. I was thinking that it might probably because due to the bad weather, or they really only show up on weekends. Some of these performances range from rather “ordinary” balancing acts, spin the ball, human statues and puppets.
Most of these performances I have already seen elsewhere and I don’t think was that interesting. Actually, it was quite ordinary for me, as Singapore has a lot of these kind of perfomances. One of the more interesting one was this “llama” who asks money from children who are attracted by it. What is probably the most popular busker is the one which looks like a sultan who floats in mid air holding a cane on his hand.. I suspect that the cane attaches to a seat hidden in the sultan’s clothes. However the sultan keeps a good grip on the cane that I can’t see what the trick is. This probably why his performance is the most popular in all of Grafton Street.
