Somehow someway, I was bound to end up at Grafton Street. The previous day, I already sawthe Fusilier’s Arch from the Saint Stephen’s Green Shopping Center but I stopped myself from going to Saint Stephen’s Green that rainy afternoon. Today was a much better day complete with blue sky. Since I was already at the Fusilier’s Arch, that meant that I was at the southern end of Grafton Street, what is probably Ireland’s most prestigious street. Not surprisingly, with the great weather that day, people are already out full force. First is probably to get some much needed sun and the second is to get some exercise.
Grafton Street is filled with people on weekends, however, it is not just shopping and eating here. There are also some performances or buskers on Grafton Street. Interestingly, a few of the performers were by people of foreign origin. For example, a guy balancing on a ladder is from Brazil. Another one, it not exactly a performer, but rather a call for awareness of the oppression going on in their country. I have seen this meditation which the group is known for in different countries, and frankly, it is hard to believe that it is, what authorities say, a subversive group. I don’t really have any inside information about them, I just hope for the people’s sake that the oppression doesn’t happen to them.
