Merrion Park is one of several parks in the city of Dublin. It is a short walk away from Trinity College and it is a nice breath of fresh air for people who don’t like the city. At the time of my visit, it wasn’t exactly the best time to be visiting Dublin. It was cold and wet and the plant life wasn’t at its best, the winter season typically does that. So I wasn’t exactly enamored with the park when I entered. Maybe it didn’t look too good because there was a lot of wind the previous day so a lot of stuff was still scattered around the place.

I was following the well paved trail in the park where it led me to one of several monuments in the park. The first one I encountered was a bit more modern in look. It was a small pyramid with a flame in it. It was something like a monument to heroes who served in the war. The presence of the flame was surprising as the pyramid seemed to be enclosed. One closer inspection you would realize that there were two figures standing guard over the flame inside the pyramid. It was so lifelike that I wondered how they breathe with the flame inside. There was another monument which reminded me of a crucifixion scene but it seemed to be about some other person. Unfortunately, the text describing the scene was not readable to me.
