Trinity College can be a treat for architecture buffs. While I am not the type who knows about what designs every building has, I am one who appreciates beautiful design. Trinity College has a few memorable buildings. Probably the one which I am most interested in is the Graduates Memorial Building. It is the nice building to the left of the College Green where the Campanille is. Surprisingly, this building was not that old considering its looks. It was built only in 1902. So as far as the university is concerned is it a newish building.
The Graduates Memorial Building has a Neo-Gothic Victorian design which stands out in Trinity College. Currently it home to the university’s oldest societies – University Philosophical Society, the College Historical Society and the College Theological Society. It is certainly quite impressive to hear about the longevity of these societies given that you only have five years stay in university most of the time. Perhaps the members of these societies are faculty, in this building they can then use the debating chambers to discuss their ideas. I do not know if I would be interested to listen to these debates, though I would like to see it at least once.
