I was absolutely delighted seeing Grafton Street. I have heard of stories about this prestigious strip of road in Dublin but it feels different when you are actually there. It may not look like it but Grafton Street is just recovering from the effects of the banking crisis which struck Ireland, not too long ago. I would hear of stories where every other store here on Grafton Street was shuttered because there was no business, also that the rents were too high even back then. It is good to see everything is much better now, hopefully, the recovery will continue. It wasn’t totally dark yet the street’s lights weren’t open yet but the buildings here were starting to light up.
It is really uncanny how it felt that I was in some big city in China. If I didn’t know any better, I would have said that the Europeans were copying the Chinese. Of course, that is something someone ignorant would say. Some of the more impressive buildings are fully lit up. Add to that the numerous Christmas decorations on the street and within the stores and it makes for a very pretty picture. Fortunately for me, my brand new ultra wide angle enabled camera can now take such photos without any trouble. For a street as narrow as Grafton, it allows me to take photos of entire buildings quite easily.
