I was glad that the city center of Dublin seems to be quite compact. This makes it very easy to visit one place after another. I think I was done visiting some churches in the city. This was also helped along by some uncoorperative weather that afternoon in Dublin. I guess I was getting the Irish experience complete with gloomy weather. The sky remained dark and it kept raining, apart from staying in a church, there were very little schelter I could find here, at least in this area. I continued on walking hoping I would be able to find a place where I can seek refuge from the rain. It was then that I stumbled into a collection of elegant buildings with a gate. As it turns out, it was Dublin Castle.
From the outside, the place didn’t look like a castle at all. I was wondering if these were those more modern palaces which were built in “modern” times. Dublin is quite an old city so it doesn’t make sense that it won’t have a castle of its own when I have already been to a few in county Donegal. Much of the castle grounds are made up of open space. There is a large space inside which is surrounded by four buildings. Although the buildings are not modern buildings, I won’t consider them to look like they are part of a castle. Disappointed, I continued to look for shelter from the unceasing rain.
