It seems that there are really numerous bridges built to cross the River Liffey a few of them seemed to have been build a little too close to each other but they were still very handy when it comes to crossing the river. At least people won’t have to walk too far to do that. I came to Dublin hoping to see some old world architecture for which Europe is known for. There are a few very modern designs and they are further downstream, I still have to see if I would be able to visit those modern bridges since I was following my route in exploring Dublin.
My last bridge is the O’Donovan Rossa Bridge. It is another elegant bridge which brings you back to the days of kings and queens, which happened to be not a pleasant time here in Ireland. Like the Grattan Bridge, the O’Donovan Rossa Bridge is replacing an older bridge which was swept away. Bridges here seem to have a nasty habit of getting destroyed by storms. Anyway, it was originally named for a Duke of Richmond but was later renamed to the O’Donovan Rossa Bridge when the Irish free state was born.
