The beauty of traveling here in the age of the smart phone is that you get find out more information than ever before. Gone are the days of intense planning and enter the days of traveling by just a mere Google search. It is amazing how fast things have changed and now people can just drive up to a places which they only heard about a few minutes ago. We don’t need paper maps anymore as our phones will tell us how to get there in the best possible way. We went south to the town of Donegal and we able to visit a few places. Lough Eske was one of these places which we only found through the aid of a navigation application. This brought us huge conveniences since we don’t need to prepare as much.
When I was looking up what else was interesting in the area of Donegal Town. One of the places that were brought up was Barnesmore Gap. I had not idea what that was but someone said that it was worth a visit. Along the highway, we say signs pointing to the Barnesmore Gap, but I don’t really see what it was. I only saw two mountains with a highway between them. Wait, that is the Barnesmore Gap! We already passed by this place earlier and I never realized it. The gap was just a gap between the two mountains. We pulled up into a pub along the highway and took some photos of the gap. It seems that this place was quite significant back when trains still ran in the area. Now, there is a highway cutting through the gap. I don’t really know what was so interesting about this place as it was just a gap between two mountains, perhaps there is a vantage point where you can observe this place better.
