I was delighted to see a beach here at Ards Forest Park. It is actually formed by the a nearby channel which happened to be at low tide when we visited. This created a rather strange sight for place named Ards Forest Park. Thousands of years of erosion have formed this beach which is almost desert like it in vastness. However, stepping on the sand would tell you that this place is very much wet. I do not know how far away we were from high tide but for now we would be trying to enjoy the white sand beach here.
Getting down to the sand wasn’t that straightforward. Although there were places in the main path which breaks to form a makeshift steps down to the beach, we deemed them to be a bit dangerous to tackle. We had to walk all the way towards the end of the beach to find a decent path which leads down to the sand. From there it was like we were in a tropical beach, minus the coconut trees. The sand was surprisingly white and fine. It was bizarre that I would be in a beach and yet still be in my winter jacket. The winds here weren’t strong but the autumn air itself was already making its presence felt.
