When I think of Ards Forest Park I would think of traditional forests where it is basically filled with tall trees and thick with vegetation. Large parts of the Ards Forest Park fit this description, however I didn’t know that there are also large parts of the park which are open space. Apparently, it is situated near a channel which fills up with water each time the tide comes in. At the time of our visit, it seems that it was low tide, as I could hardly see the water which supposedly runs quite close to the walking path. This, however, presented us with a rather unique chance to explore this part of the park without getting wet.
There are numerous marked trails within the park and they are marked by color red, blue etc. I wasn’t sure which trail we followed but we ended up at the channel area which my friend supposedly already visited previously. The water at the channel was very low which provided us with a surprisingly large beach area. I wasn’t expecting something like this here since we are after all visiting a forest. I must admit that the beach itself is quite nice. Looks like there are a lot of interesting places to see here in Ards Forest Park, hopefully, the weather cooperates and I get to see more.
