Melmore Head is in county Donegal and it features beaches which can be quite nice provided the weather is warm enough. Obviously, I’m still not used to the cold here and although it would have bee nice to go swimming, I’m quite sure the water would also be just as frigid. Melmore Head not only features beaches which draw tourists from Northern Ireland here but it also has numerous hillwalking opportunities. To the right of the beach where we were, there was a small hill which we intend to climb. My friend has already scaled the hill once and this will be the first time with kids, I suppose this is gentle enough to bring the kids to.
There were a few people making their way up the peak of the hill and we can clearly see this from below. I think we are a bit pressed for time since we needed to get out of the area before darkness falls, although spending the night here might not be a bad idea either. There are numerous family caravans here I wonder if any of them are available for rent for the night. Anyway, we passed by what seems to be a field for sheep grazing but there weren’t any sheep. Slowly we were going higher and higher fortunately it was a gentle slope so we weren’t that concerned about danger here. Of course, you never know with kids how they would suddenly burst out running much to our consternation.
