I was one weekend, dragged to go hillwalking with some friends. I wasn’t totally prepared for this as all I had were running shoes and my jacket to protect me from the cold. We will be going to this place called Horn Head which is basically on the edge of Ireland. The road to go to Horn Head spectacular as it passes through some resort towns. Contrary to my experience, people come to this remote part of Donegal to holiday. I was of the impression that people would go to warmer places to holiday. Anyway, we were way past those holiday homes and were on a rough road going up the hill. There was no public transport here so your own transportation here is a must. There was a carpark on top and we set out.
Immediately, after opening the car doors we noticed something wrong. The winds were unbelievably strong. I honestly haven’t not felt anything like it. Okay, I never stepped outside whenever there is a powerful typhoon. It seems that nobody bothered to check the weather that day. Stuff was blowing about and out of the car and we had to scramble to retrieve some stuff. Amidst the howling wind we geared up and proceeded. This part of the land it something like a small peninsula where the land basically juts out into the sea. From the carpark, we can already see one side of the sea and it was already stunning. There were sheer cliffs which drop into the stormy sea. We were too far away from that point but at least visibility was still good. Ahead of us, there was a well worn path into Horn Head. Well worn paths are meant to be followed, at least for me. Hopefully, I would be able to get decent photos despite the powerful winds whipping the place.
