I was not really surprised to see that there was a large garden behind the tower at Glenveagh Castle. We already went through one of the smaller gardens upon our entry here. It is not really surprising to see that there is yet another, larger garden. This garden is a bit more European complete with sculptures and hedges. Parts of the garden lead on to the forest nearby. I wanted to see where that path leads to but I was only hitching a ride and I have to follow our schedule. It would be nice to see if there was a viewpoint where one can see Glenveagh Castle from far away.
It is nice to see that despite all the natural beauty surrounding the Glenveagh Castle, the garden was built to further enhance the place. No wonder they wanted everything all to themselves when they chased out all the tenants who were living in the estate at that time. A visit to Glenveagh Castle is worth it if only to visit these gardens. This was it for me at the moment. It was time for us to head back. There is a bus service for visitors can and you can take a ride back for two euros. For people like me, I preferred to walk. It wasn’t really that far since it was the photo taking that was slowing us down. I managed to get back to the entrance gate within thirty minutes, this was non-stop walking. The weather was great for a walk anyway.
