To be honest, the Glenveagh Castle was a bit underwhelming. I was dreaming of large castles like the one from Disney movies where kings and knights would be roaming around. However, this wasn’t meant to be. Glenveagh Castle isn’t really one of the premier castles that Ireland has to offer so maybe that should have helped to set my expectations right. The Glenveagh Castle is a charming little castle and it probably served its purpose back them. Now, it is some sort of showcase of the way things were back then when it was still occupied. The castle can now be visited via guided tour, for a small fee of course.
Well, I will not have any of that, so was happy to just go and explore the castle grounds. The view outside seems to be much better than the one inside. There seems to be more grounds which I didn’t get to explore outside the castle. Visitors can walk around the castle through some nice gradens. This can give you a 360 degree view of Glenveagh Castle. The gardens here are very neatly trimmed and give you an idea of the splendor of Gleveagh Castle. To think that this was the residence of a person. It is quite enviable to be living in such a nice place. Though, this place is quite remote, I would have to wonder how they managed to procure supplies. It is quite possible that they grew their own supplies, considering how difficult it was to get from one place to another even now.
