I haven’t been to a lot of caves in my life so each visit is quite special to me. When I found out that part of the focus of this tour are visits to caves, I was naturally excited. Most of the caves that I visited are formed from limestone and it is probably not a surprise. Limestone dissolves and it forms hollow chambers where caves are formed. Most of the islands of the Bacuit Archipelago are limestone and thus a haven for cave enthusiasts. The only reason for visiting Codognon Island is for its cave. Given the size of the island, I don’t expect the cave to be huge.
We were led to the entrance of Codognon Cave. We had to wait a while since there was a stream of people coming out. It seems like most of them were Chinese tourists and they seem to be having a good time. The entrance of the cave is very tiny. You need to crawl through the mouth just to go in. The mouth is actually around waist level so you sit at the mouth then turn and slip your feet in the mouth as you enter, then pulling yourself in. This is probably easier said than done, as some people would get claustrophobia just from looking at it. The mouth of the cave is lined with life jackets to cushion the tourists who would be going in. You need to watch out though since there is a lot of sand here, so it might be a little rough on the butt.
