Snake Island in the Bacuit Archipelago is certainly a fascinating place. It is a long strip of sand which connects on island to the mainland. It is possible for one to walk from one end of Snake Island to another. However, I focused on getting photos of the island first. From sea level, you can see people walking along the sandbar as if walking on water but you need a different vantage point to see the full beauty of Snake Island. Our boat was parked alongside other boats here in Snake Island. Our boatman told us to go and explore and to follow a footpath on the right. This was a path to go up to a small hill overlooking the island.
The path to the top of the hill was straightforward but it was a dirt path so it pays to be careful when walking here. At the top of the hill was a small pavilion where visitors can admire the entirety of Snake Island. I seems that I wasn’t the only one who had this idea. Numerous other local tourists were also taking photos of Snark Island from here. It was high enough to see all of the sand bar and yet near enough to see details. There is a tall mountain on one side of the sandbar and it looks like it would be a great place for a shot of Snake Island, though I doubt there is a trail going up the mountain.
