The Bacuit Archipelago is an incredibly beautiful group of islands here in northern Palawan. The area of the Bacuit archipelago has natural beauty few places in the Philippines can compare to. The beauty of these islands is not just on above the water, but also under it. Such that it was named a marine reserve by the Philippine government. In fact, a submission has already been made to make the El Nido area a UNESCO world heritage site. I don’t know how long it would take to elevate this area to such status but I think this place needs the recognition so people will start protecting it. Perhaps it may also stave off any commercial development on the islands.
After passing by Pangulasian Island, we were headed off to one of the more well known islands. I say this because I knew of this island even before I joined this tour. I was hoping it would have been part of the original tour but no matter, looks like we would get to spend a little more time here. We are heading towards Snake Island. I’m sure there are numerous Snakes Islands in the Philippines and perhaps the world but as with all Snake Islands, they we named because of their shape. From the sea it is not easy to tell, it would be better if we have a better vantage point.
