We finally arrived at Entalula Island and we quickly disembarked from our boat. I quickly noticed how our boatman threw his anchor wherever he felt like it, most likely hitting coral. I noticed this behavior even back then and I could already see the results here. Further away from the shore were numerous destroyed coral. Despite the stunning beauty of Entalula Island, I was dismayed by this fact. Unfortunately, this kind of preservation seems to be alien to them. I mentioned to my boatman about the need to protect the coral but he just nodded his head and went ashore.
Anyway, Entalula Island is as beautiful as I thought it would be. The sand here in Entalula Island is powder fine, on par with Boracay and the other islands here in the Bacuit Archipelago. This kind of sand is normally built by coral, and it is not hot even when the sun is high. I guess, there is some kind of benefit when they destroyed the nearby coral, then ensured the continued supply of sand here. Behind the beach were soaring karst including a spire which is said to be one of the defining features of Entalula Island. Sadly, we weren’t the only ones on this beach as other tourists have started arriving. So much for paradise.
