Thoughts on Nacpan Beach

Sitting Under the Coconut Tree at Napcan Beach

I really enjoyed seeing the Nacpan Calitang Twin Beach. It is not very often that you see a short sandbar with a nearby hill so you can view it. That hill is probably the best spot to view the twin beach, but it is a little difficult to get to the spot as it is overgrown with plants and very sharp grass. The trail here isn’t marked at all so you just have to see if there were any plants that were trampled in front of you, that is the trail. Eventually, as Nacpan becomes more well known, this path will indeed be well trodden but for now I will have to brave the dangers of coming up here. Additionally, there weren’t any trees up here so it was really hot. I really wanted to go down, but it is not very easy.

We took another route down the hill, at one point I lost the trail my friend made and just blazed my own trail. Hopefully I don’t step into something unexpected. The trail down was just as rough so I was careful not to hurry. I was wearing shorts so walking fast will mean having thousands of little blades of tough grass cut into me. If you ever had a paper cut, this is how it feels. We quickly head back to the trees back at Nacpan Beach. By now, there were a few western tourists on their own motorcycles here. I’m sure there were tired from the rough journey from El Nido, but they looked thrilled to see such a deserted beach. As for us, I was content to sit under a tree and watch the other tourists enjoy. I liked this place, it doesn’t have karst and all but it has potential, I can only imagine how it would be in ten years times.
