The multi-cab was conveniently waiting at the junction of the airport road, this was exactly how I remembered it to be. The multi-cab again is a squeeze especially for me who is carrying a backpack. I just try to keep the backpack away from the other passengers when they are going down as I don’t want to hit them. The road leading to the San Jose Bus Terminal is well paved but a lot has changed beside the road. There is now a large Robinson’s shopping center here and a Go hotel which is a partner of Cebu Pacific. Come to think of it, Robinson’s group of companies seem to have a very big presence here in Puerto Princesa, I guess it is best to do it now before the SM juggernaut comes.
As for the San Jose Bus Terminal, it is still has dusty as it has always been. I was hoping they would have made renovations what with the rising popularity of Palawan as a tourist destination. On the flip side, you can still see the people going about their daily lives here. Life is as slow as ever here with people just waiting to see what will happen. The San Jose Public Market is beside the bus terminal and it is understandably a center for commerce in this area. The last time I was in this area, I didn’t bother going in. Now that I know what I need to do here, I can spend some time to explore the market. I was quite surprised to see how organized the wet market was. The local people were selling their produce, seafood usually with all sorts of marine produce here. There was even an octopus for sale. Much of Manila’s seafood comes from the waters of Palawan as this area is very rich in marine life.
