When a friend of mine asked me to have lunch at a place called La Forketta, images of dollar bills flying away started flashing in my head. Granted that my friend can have an expensive taste, unless I can help it. When I looked up La Forketta, it really was as I imagined it to be. It wasn’t the super expensive restaurant that I would never eat in, unless it was a once in a lifetime event, but it was expensive enough for me not to go there even occasionally. It was a special holiday and I figured why not treat myself and enjoy the company of good friends while I was at it.
La Forketta is located in a rather expensive neighborhood of Nassim Road. I know this road to be where a lot of embassies are. There are some houses here and they look absolutely lovely but I can’t even imagine living there unless I’m some kind of billionaire who doesn’t care about money. It is a stone’s throw away from Orchard Road but there are no MRT stations nearby, the closest one would have to be Orchard station which is still a couple of blocks away. Anyway, this is a nice walk from Orchard station and there are a few shopping centers along the way.
So how was it? We went there for lunch and there weren’t any customers yet. It seems it was because it was a special holiday. Perhaps there will be more in the evening. The interiors were almost like a hotel and it was dim such that you won’t remember that it was noon time. We ordered a few pasta dishes to share some names which I nave never heard before. Okay, I only know spaghetti. I was never the pasta fanatic that a friend of mine is but I did like the food here. The pasta we had was al dente and the sauces were very flavorful. The ambience is what I like most and if were to bring someone for an intimate dinner, I would definitely consider this place. As for the price, for this kind of place, I think the prices are okay. You do pay for the ambience and a dinner here might just be worth it.
