Empty Train in China, Never Though I Would See the Day
I was due to meet a few friends here in Shenzhen before I leave for Hong Kong. The last time I attempted to come here got scuttled because I couldn’t get a visa on-arrival when I was coming in from Hong Kong. Apparently, my passport is no longer allowed to have that privilege anymore. I believe this is even more so now since China seems to have a lot of disputes with other countries. I was told to get a visa somewhere in Wanchai but my friends were already in the other side waiting for my arrival. Too bad, this time it is pushing through since I am firmly in Chinese soil. They do have work right now so I needed to get there on my own.

I haven’t been to their office but I do know where it is. I need to take the Shenzhen Metro to their office. Fortunately, I do need to transfer and the airport is also the terminal station so there weren’t any people here. However, as you might expect the airport is quite far from the city itself. I need to travel all the way to Shopping Park 购物公园 which is twenty one stations away. I scheduled a lunch meeting with them but it seems I will be very late. The flight delay only made it worse. Looks like it would be dinner instead. Meanwhile, I was admiring the squeaky clean trains they use here. Shenzhen prides itself on its efficiency, and their metro system is just proof of that. They currently have five lines in operation, three more are under construction.
