I got a bit of a shock when I stepped out of the Shenzhen Baoan International Airport terminal. It was hot. I have been up in the highlands of Yunnan for two weeks and have gotten used to the cool mountain climate. Even when I got back to Kunming I was already feeling the relative warmth of the place compared to the other higher altitude cities. But there in Shenzhen which already at sea level, it was hot. Unfortunately, the trip from the terminal to the metro wasn’t as seamless as I hoped it would be. There was an overhead bridge which goes to the metro station but I needed to get out of the terminal for a while to get up the bridge.
I took this chance to take some photos of the terminal building as well. It was modern but not really full of character as compared to Kunming’s brand new airport. There was a carpark outside the terminal building as well as some buses circling around. Shenzhen prides itself to be a model of efficiency in China as it tries to keep up with its more well known neighbor, Hong Kong. There are already a lot of signs which say it has already caught up. Shenzhen is a very clean and orderly city. Much construction is still going on here so I think you need to stay tuned.
