Crossing One of Kunming’s Major Roads into Wuhua District 五华区
When the taxi dropped me somewhere in Kunming, I really had no idea where I was. I was under the impression that it was somewhere near my hostel but I couldn’t find a landmark which will tell me where I was. I didn’t have a map either so I was just relying on dead reckoning. As it happened, I was dropped at a place which seems to be very lively. There was a street performance nearby with someone impersonating Michael Jackson of all people. People here were gathered around him checking out what was going on. People here probably know who Michael Jackson is at least maybe the younger ones do.

Further on, I find out that this is one of the happening places in the city. The sun was already going down but the lights here are being lit. I have somehow stumbled into one of the commercial centers of Kunming – Wuhua District. This is probably something like their Wangfujing or Nanjing East Road and other similar streets which seem to be more and more common in China. I didn’t really plan much on exploring Kunming so I wasn’t really expecting to run into this place. Most of the time though when I am in a big Chinese city, I do end up in the commercial center. I guess it is easy enough to stumble into even if it is a city as large as Kunming.
