Although the Stone Forest has a major tourist track which brings everyone around the entire park. This is not the only path there is. There are numerous smaller paths within the park, usually they a built within the karst themselves. This gives you a feeling of cave exploration except that this isn’t a cave. At this point there are much less people although you might run into some groups once in a while. This seems to be better but you kind of lose sight of the beauty of the Stone Forest if you are this close to the karst.
I was surprised how intricate the smaller paths where. It is just like a forest where you try to navigate within to find your way out. Certain parts have interesting features such as rocks precariously hanging on or a hole in a wall where you can try to fit in. I didn’t try since I already know I won’t fit I don’t want to get stuck and having others try to extricate me. I can imagine making the news because of that. I personally prefer to see the Stone Forest from a bit further away that is where you can see lots of them. Inside they basically look like uninteresting walls with very little character.
