I didn’t really like the tour bus which goes around the Stone Forest, but we were stuck on it and we couldn’t get off. My Swede companions were likewise realizing the folly to taking the tour bus but there wasn’t much we could do. The bus basically zipped through the sight and we were left wanting more. It was quite disappointing to say the least. At the end of the tour was the Minor Stone Forest. It seems to be a major tourist spot here since a lot of people were converging here maybe there is something special here.
The Stone Forest as a whole is pretty homogeneous as most of the sights here looks pretty much the same. A karst is a karst is a karst. Of course there is the ever present comparisons to other objects, which is very common here in China. For some reason, it really happens a lot with rock formations be it made from sandstone, limestone or whatever other stone there is. With the Chinese penchant for making something more interesting than it look, I’m pretty sure I would see more of them here.
