Double Bed at Kunming Cloudland International Youth Hostel 昆明大脚氏国际青年旅舍
The ride from Dali to Kunming was unremarkable as the ride very smooth. There was a brief stopover in the middle of nowhere but there was a large parking lot with a lot shopping area for passengers to wander around. However the place wasn’t exactly very clean as it was along the main highway and thus it was very dusty. I was hoping I would be able to grab a bit here but the food wasn’t exactly very appetizing and it doesn’t look very clean. So I just bought some snack, hopefully they would be slightly better than the food outside. The trip from Dali to Kunming can be done in less than four hours. It is convenient that there are numerous buses which ply that route though it was a bit strange for them not to have a bus terminal near Dali Ancient Town, I believe the bus comes from the nearby city of Xiaguan but I didn’t bother going all the way out there since my hotel was able to arrange transportation for me.
Doesn’t It Look Like Public Housing?
This won’t be my first time in Kunming since I was here on my very first day of arrival at Yunnan. However, I didn’t stay very long here since I was on my way to Shangrila way up north of Yunnan. For my stay in Kunming, I will be staying at Kunming Cloudland International Youth Hostel. This took a little skill to get to since I needed to take a public bus to get the hostel. I was lucky and I managed to find it without any problem. This without any GPS, so I’m very proud of myself. It also helps that the bus system is easy to use at least if you can read Chinese. Kunming Cloudland International Youth Hostel is unlike any hostel I have been to in China. It feels a lot like public housing as the entire building is stuffed with rooms I got a bed in a six-bed room and yet again, I landed the top bunk. I quickly checked in a got into bed. It is not cold here in Kunming at least when I visited. I also didn’t help that there was a power failure as well. Anyway, I hope there aren’t bugs here.
