It was a rather short day here at Dali Ancient Town, we came from hiking for a few hours in nearby Cangshan and had an early dinner and that was it. My travel buddy, at least for now, apparently hasn’t been to the most important site here in Dali which is the Three Pagodas at Chongsheng Temple. I was quite surprised when he told me about this and I quickly told him to head out and go to the pagodas, he should still make it to see at least the pagodas. And he did, he walked all the way to the pagodas just like I did.
Unfortunately, by the time he got there, it was already too late and the ticket counter won’t sell him any tickets anymore. I think this was a bit different from my case since they warned me that it would close in an hour. Since the staff wasn’t fluent in English, they probably just told him that it was closed. Anyway, he did manage to see it from the outside so I guess it was still okay. When he got back it was already dark. Since we already had dinner, we just had some local beer, Dali beer to be specific. It seems that Dali beer is one of the larger brewers here in southwest China as this was also served even in the northern parts of Yunnan. The beers weren’t very special at all, though I’m no beer connoisseur. At least these beers were cold.
