Seven Dragon Maidens Pool 七龙女池 from Afar
My Canadian travel buddy seemed to have boundless thirst for adventure as he climbed all the way up the falls by hopping from one rock to another. This is no mean feat as some of the rocks were wet and possibly slippery. I already had to clamber up and down several rocks just to get close to the pools but some parts were outright dangerous, from my perspective that is. Meanwhile, some young Chinese tourists who also don’t seem to have any sense of danger were also jumping from one rock to the other assisting the ones who are more afraid. Some proceeded while some turned back.
Path Carved Out of a Mountain at Cangshan 苍山
I can only observe the falls and the pools from where I was. I was thinking why they didn’t build any proper steps here as the ones in the falls were too dangerous. As it turns out, there really was a flight of stairs to the right of the pools. It was hidden by the vegetation so it was not very obvious. My travel buddy hollered from above about the stairs, though I doubt anyone else would have understood us. He head down the flight of stairs after lingering for a while before we head back to the cable car station. I would say that we didn’t really spend a lot of time here in Cangshan but the longer treks here would have forced us to miss the last cable car down the mountain. I don’t like the idea of walking down the mountain in pitch black either aside from the problem of how to get back to Dali from Cangshan.
