Remember the row of restaurants hear the Yuyuan Hotel? Well, it is finally night time and I am guessing that the place will already be pulsing with activity. That row of restaurants is one of the famous night spots here in the ancient town and little surprise that the place was already lit up, ready to accept customers. Most of the restaurants here didn’t look anything like Chinese restaurants, in fact they looked a lot like western bars but with Chinese clients.
One look at the menu and it tells me that I should stay away from these places. They do serve local food, but I don’t think they would be any better than the food served just a couple of streets down the block. Obviously this place is more attractive for the younger and more moneyed generation – of which both categories I do not belong to. A stroll along this street was a pleasant one except for the occasional loud music which blares from some of the restaurants. It is a pity that they would ruin a perfectly good setting with unbearably loud music.
