Not Sure If This Was the Name of the Village
My hike towards the Erhai Lake took longer than expected. A usual, things looked much closer to each other in the map than reality. I walked more than an hour towards the nearest town through vast rice plantations. The road here isn’t very nice and it was difficult to walk properly. I was starting to think that this was a wrong move on my part. There were no tourists here as most of the people here seem to live there. Once in a while a vehicle would pass by an I would watch in envy as it passed me by. I don’t think the village here expects visitors either since there was nothing to see here.
Empty Town Along Erhai Lake 洱海
The village itself is basically a typical rural community. The houses were all made of concrete but were not exactly condos either. The place really seemed quite desolate as people here probably just worked in the farms around the area or in Dali Ancient Town itself. The village wasn’t well kept either, since there was garbage strewn all over the place. Even the waterways which seem to be in the village were clogged with rubbish, it was really a disgusting sight that I didn’t even want to photograph. I believe some effort has been made to clean it up, but it seems the litterbugs outnumber the garbage collectors. It really is a study in contrasts since Dali Ancient Town being a tourist destination is very clean while this village which probably just a kilometer away, wallows in filth.
