I have explored quite a bit of Dali Ancient Town and I think there wasn’t much left to explore there. One rather glaring omission in my visit to Dali is Erhai Lake. “Erhai Lake” is actually a bit of a strange translation since the name Erhai itself already translates to Er Lake, Er in this case refers to the shape of the lake which is that of an ear. A proper translation of Erhai should be Er Lake, Erhai Lake is quite redundant. Anyway, Erhai Lake is an alpine fault lake which means this was formed due to the movement of the earth’s crust.
Erhai is also one of the major attractions of Dali and I just want to see what it worth seeing here. I’m sure there is some lake cruise but I am not going for that, I look forward to see if it can best Inle Lake in Myanmar which I think is one of the better looking lakes I have visited. I decided to go on foot since it seems to be close when you look at the map. I figured I just have to head towards the general direction of the lake and I will be there. Anyway, here it goes!
