While the Four Seasons Youth Hostel wasn’t exactly a horrible place to stay in, actually only my room was since it was part of the old part of the building complex which they decided to keep and to let visitors stay in. The rest of the hosts was excellent but since there was no more room at the inn (sorry), it moved out to the nearby Yuyuan Hotel. This hotel is a godsend where I was coming from. The dorm room which I took was spacious and there was only me occupying the bed at that time. Though the room was at the ground floor there was a curtain to keep out peepers. I was just concerned about how secure the room is knowing that there was only a glass panel separating the two.
The Yuyuan Hotel has several rooms which can be considered hotel quality here in Dali. There weren’t a lot of visitors here but I am not complaining. There was a small pavilion in the middle of the open area in the hotel. You can use the computer here as well as have some time with other visitors. The design of the Yuyuan Hotel tries to mimic a traditional Bai house, it doesn’t go too far though as you still have to keep the comfort of the guests in mind.
