I continued my march towards the Chongsheng Temple. The sun is still shining brightly my way and it seemed that I would have to content myself with backlit photos of the temple grounds. It was quite a shame since the mountains behind the temple really serve as a great backdrop to the temple. I liked the way they planned the Chongsheng Temple is it as if this place was really designed for visitors. Think about that, the Three Pagodas were built on the vertices of an equilateral triangle facing away from the Cangshan mountains, while the temple itself is behind the Three Pagodas and stretches all the way to the foot of the mountains, this is very impressive planning.
I was surprised to see a beautiful gate with the name Chongsheng Temple. I wondered about it, wasn’t I already in Chongsheng Temple? My guess is that the actual Chongsheng Temple lay inside these grounds and that the halls before were just ornamental ones. Not that they weren’t nice. I guess if you have to ask visitors to walk far, you might as well put something in between to keep them interested.
