I have heard very little about Dali before I came here, I guess it was never that famous outside of China, however, I have heard of their most famous landmark and this is the main reason why I decided to drop by here. It was a bit late in the day and I was considering whether or not to proceed. I was thinking that that sun goes down late here in Yunnan, so maybe there was still time. The site wasn’t really very far away, I walk around thirty minutes to get there. I knew the place was close since I can see the landmark from the city. I remember seeing them earlier on my way to Dali Ancient Town at least I have an idea where it is.
Outside the city gates of Dali Ancient Town, there were touts asking if I wanted to go touring. I already knew where the place was so I didn’t really need their services. If my hunch was right, I just need to follow the highway to the place. It wasn’t a very convenient walk since it involved some highway crossing. Parts of the way were under construction at that time so there was dirt all over. I did like the way there since it seems to be built at the foot of the mountains and I was thinking how nice it would be to uses these mountains as a backdrop. I won’t be surprised to know that the landmark was built with the mountains in mind.
