I was quite pleased with the view overlooking the town of Lijiang and I was thinking that I might be a good place to stay in this part of town. True enough, there were a few hostels in this area which were touting the great view they have of the Lijiang Ancient Town. And it is no joke either, the view is indeed nice. However, it does feel that this place is a bit out of the way from most of the action and that might be a selling point for some people especially after experiencing Sifang Square, a change of pace might be in order. However, it also appears that eating places might be little further than normal.
Near the viewpoint is also one of the more historical buildings in town. The Wen Chang Palace 文昌宫 was established in the year 1723 in the Qing dynasty. It is a place of worship for Taosim, Confucianism and Buddhism. These three religions sometimes co-mingle that it is difficult to tell them apart anymore. I wanted to drop by this place but the gates were unfortunately closed. That is too bad since this is one of the few places which is still the original structure, even the Mu Palace below is reconstructed. Maybe this place is also falling apart which is why it is not open.
