I paid my CNY 50 to the ticket kiosk and proceeded down towards the platform. As one might expect, this turned out to be a few stories high since lower road was already quite high up the mountainside. This is to be expected since the current at this part of the gorge is incredibly strong, it is probably not a good idea to build a highway so close to a raging river such as this as parts of the highway have already fallen into the river in the past.
A snaking flight of stairs were built to bring visitors down to the Tiger Leaping Gorge viewing platform. The place seems to be sturdy enough but one will never know since the river is constantly pounding the rocks below, who knows when the entire structure might come apart because of a few loose rocks. Along the way down there were some Tibetan script carved into the rock. I would think that this was because the Tibetans consider this a holy place. Not surprising either since you can see the power of nature at its best.
