I had a good night’s rest a my new hostel, it wasn’t exactly a hotel room but it had a nice atmosphere which made you feel that you are a Naxi villager as well. Shower was downstairs though at least I had the room all to myself. The next day, I left early as I needed to travel to get to my point of interest. People would be mistaken if they think that Lijiang is just about visiting the ancient town and the Black Dragon Pool. In fact, Lijiang serves as a good base for exploring the surrounding area. Some even make Shangrila a trip out from Lijiang itself. Fortunately, there are a lot of transportation out of Lijiang such as public buses and even those vans for hire.
For this trip, I will be retracing a bit of my steps back to Shangrila. I’m quite sure I saw this place on my way to Lijiang but I couldn’t figure out whether to get off or just continue on to Lijiang. All of that is moot now, I am on a bus heading back. This trip will take around two hours but along the way there are astounding scenery to see. The road winds through some mountains and later along some rivers. Such is the incredible variety of scenery you can see here.
